Orlov fined $51,000 and suspended for two NHL games

Washington Capitals guard Dmitry Orlov has been suspended for two games and fined $51,000 for a violation that injured Winnipeg forward Nikolai Ehlers. This was reported on the official website of the league.

"Washington" on January 18 at home won "Winnipeg" in overtime with a score of 4:3. Orlov in this meeting was marked by an abandoned puck and a transfer. In the first period, he was sent off for hitting an opponent with a stick.

In the middle of the third period, Orlov met Ehlers with a blow to the knee. The NHL believes that the Russian defender had time to assess the situation and avoid such a collision, as a result of which the opponent was injured.

Orlov's fine will be sent to the players' emergency fund.

In the current NHL season, Orlov scored 5 goals and made 14 assists in 38 games.
