Russia (bbabo.net) - During the New Year holidays from December 30 to January 9, 65 fires occurred in the Penza region, 12 people died. Such data were announced on Monday at an operational meeting in the regional government.
- Geographically, most of the fires were recorded on the territory of the regional center. The culprits of the fires in most cases were drunk, - explained the Minister of Housing and Public Utilities and Civil Protection of the Penza Region, Mikhail Panyukhin.
The head of the region, Oleg Melnichenko, called the New Year period a difficult one and set the heads of municipalities with the task of preventing emergencies. Earlier, the governor instructed to develop a regional program for equipping residential premises of socially unprotected categories of citizens with special fire warning devices. The need is calculated for each municipality. The funds will be allocated from the regional budget. Preventive raids will continue.
As I wrote, a major incident happened in Penza on the night of January 7. A gas explosion occurred in an apartment building on Mira Street, killing two people. The governor instructed the head of the city administration to keep under personal control the elimination of the consequences of the emergency, including the provision of the necessary assistance to the residents of the damaged living quarters.
