Tokayev introduced a curfew in Alma-Ata and Mangystau region

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev introduced a curfew in Almaty and Mangistau region from 23.00 to 7.00. RIA Novosti writes about it.

In Alma-Ata for the period of the state of emergency, which Tokayev had previously introduced? a commandant's office was created, it was headed by the chief of police Kanat Timerdenov. They will carry out a document check, personal search, inspection of things and vehicles.

A restriction on freedom of movement is established, including on cars. Entry to and exit from Alma-Ata is restricted.

Also, by presidential decree, the sale of weapons and ammunition is prohibited, and a special regime for the circulation of drugs and alcohol has been established.

According to the Voenny Obozrevatel Telegram channel, additional military units continue to arrive in Alma-Ata.

According to the decree, the emergency regime comes into force on January 5 from 01:30 am for a period until 00:00 hours on January 19, 2022. Tokayev said he hopes for the prudence of citizens.

In the west of Kazakhstan, for several days, mass protests have not subsided due to the rise in prices for liquefied gas. Since the New Year, the cost of gas at local gas stations has increased dramatically. If last year its retail price in this region was 50-60 tenge per liter (about 10 rubles), then since the beginning of this year prices at local gas stations have increased to 120 tenge per liter (about 21 rubles).
