According to the newspaper, it was not possible to resolve the situation even after the authorities announced a decrease in the price of automobile gas.

So, for example, arrests are taking place in various districts of Almaty. Among the detainees was the head of the unregistered Democratic Party of Kazakhstan Zhanbolat Mamay, the newspaper reports.

There were also clashes with the police in Atyrau, where protesters were able to break through the cordon on the approaches to the central square. There they surrounded the governor of Makhambet Dosmukhambetov and did not allow him to leave the square by car.

Riots were also observed in Aktobe, where protesters also demanded that gas prices be reduced following the example of the city of Aktau.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that protesters were trying to storm the Akimat (administration) building of the regional center of Aktau.

In the west of Kazakhstan, for several days, mass protests have not subsided due to the rise in prices for liquefied gas. Since the New Year, the cost of gas at local gas stations has increased dramatically. If last year its retail price in this region was 50-60 tenge per liter (about 10 rubles), then since the beginning of this year prices at local gas stations have increased to 120 tenge per liter (about 21 rubles).
