Russia spoke about the risk of a new strain of coronavirus in 2023

Biophysicist Nelli Sosedova said that coronavirus mutations will not end on the “omicron”. The leading specialist of the Vakcina.ru project spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.

The expert shared her vision of what properties the next strain might have.

Since the end of 2020, scientists have identified about ten variants of the coronavirus, Sosedova noted. In her opinion, such a mutation rate indicates the possibility of a new “serious” strain appearing by the beginning of 2023.

“We lived with the coronavirus for two years. During this time, we saw about ten mutations, of which four were large. If a virus produced ten variants in two years, it means that it mutates quickly. Maybe a new serious strain will be next year, ”the biophysicist told the publication.

Sosedova believes that the incubation period of a new variant of the coronavirus will be about the same as that of the "omicron". It may also remain highly contagious. But the disease itself caused by this new future strain will be milder than when infected with previous versions of the coronavirus, the expert believes.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, practitioner Anton Ershov said that changes in the symptoms of coronavirus will take place in four stages, and now humanity is going through the third.

The British Express wrote that the presence of a headache may indicate breathing problems with the “omicron” strain of coronavirus. According to doctors, prolonged headaches with coronavirus occur in those patients who often complained of a similar ailment before infection. However, no one is immune from this symptom, and it can manifest itself in any person even after recovery.
