Russia (bbabo.net), - In the Rostov region, police officers detained a man suspected of trafficking in illegally caught fish worth 30 million rubles. The police seized about 75 tons of fish, including fish listed in the Red Data Book of the region.

"A native of the Krasnodar Territory is suspected of illegal fishing, as well as its storage for processing and further marketing without appropriate labeling," said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.

In the course of the investigation, it was established that the owner of a private workshop in the Volgodonsk region used illegally caught fish as raw materials, which he sold to intermediaries.

The operation was attended by employees of the FSB, Rosselkhoznadzor and Rosrybolovstvo. During the search, more than 5,000 pieces of shemai, entered in the Red Book of the Rostov Region, were found, as well as over 7,000 pike perch of non-commercial size banned for catch in Russia. 26.5 tons of vimba and silver carp were also withdrawn from the illegal turnover without marking on the packages.

In total, the police seized 75 tons of fish. As a result of unlawful activity, damage was caused in the amount of 30 million rubles. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect.
