New iPhones and iPads will be able to charge AirPods, Apple Watch and Apple Pencil through their screens

It is reported that the new iPhones and iPads will soon receive a feature that allows you to charge accessories through the screen. This information appeared in a patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent drawings confirm that wireless charging can work on one side of the screen while keeping the other side functional. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be possible to use a smartphone or tablet while they are charging accessories.

This feature will only support charging for accessories like AirPods, Apple Watch, and Apple Pencil. It will come in handy in situations when your headphones or smartwatch are unexpectedly discharged, and there is no charging at hand.

In addition, the upcoming iPhone 14 is rumored to be without a SIM slot, so only eSIM cards will be supported for connectivity. It is also reported that there will be support for two eSIM cards.

Prior to that, there were rumors that Apple was planning to remove the Lightning port from smartphones. This, together with the removal of the SIM card slot, will be an important step towards being fully waterproof.
