Six more Tesla employees file a harassment lawsuit

Six former Tesla employees accused the company of creating an environment that fostered a culture of sexual harassment in its Fremont, California-based factory. The women have lodged complaints with the Alameda County Supreme Court of repeated incidents of physical contact, unwanted courtship and discrimination in the workplace.

One of the women who went to court, Jessica Brooks, says that she was sexually harassed on her first day at work. She claims that her boss told the subordinate men to "look at the new girl." Brooks says the harassment from colleagues was so intrusive that she had to fence off her workspace with boxes.

According to a former employee, contacting the HR department did not lead to a solution to the problem - she was simply transferred to another part of the plant. Brooks says that without creating physical barriers, she could not fully do her job.

One of the girls who complained, Eden Mederos, said that the harassment situation worsened after the launch of the Tesla Model Y in 2019. Then the head of the company Elon Musk published a tweet with a combination of letters and numbers in the following sequence "S", "3", "X" and "Y", which refers to the models of electric vehicles.

In November, Tesla production worker Jessica Baraza sued the company for being sexually harassed and objectified for three years. In her lawsuit, she noted that the company's management was aware of the problem, but they themselves were involved in discrimination. The workplace environment has led to a deterioration in Baraza's mental health.

Last week, former Tesla employee Erica Cloud accused the employer of creating a hostile workplace environment, as well as sexual harassment by her boss. Following her complaint to the HR department, she was harassed by other company managers. Cloud says there is a practice of gender-based assault at the company.

Tesla does not have a public relations department, so reporters cannot get comment on harassment cases.

Yesterday, five former employees of another company, Elon Musk, SpaceX, spoke about the sexual harassment they had to face while working. They noted that staff members had been inactive following women's complaints. Ex-employees emphasized that managers are not able to correctly respond to similar requests.
