Update KB5008353 fixes performance drop for all drive types on Windows 11

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft in the KB5008353 update fixed the performance drop for all types of drives on Windows 11.

Update KB5008353 for Windows 11 was released at the end of January. Its description states that it, among other fixes and improvements, contains a fix for an issue that affects the performance of all drives (NVMe SSD, SSD, HDD) on Windows 11 by removing previously active and unnecessary actions on each NTFS journal write operation USN.

The USN journal is intended for convenient tracking of changes in the file system for, for example, an indexing service. There, in a compact form, all records are made about changes in the contents of volumes in the system and file properties.

Windows Latest explained that many users said that only after installing KB5008353 did Windows 11 start to load faster than Windows 10, and not using an NVME SSD, but from a regular SATA SSD.

Earlier in preview version of update KB5007262, Microsoft promised to fix issues related to performance degradation of SSDs when used as system drives. However, this update did not help all users.

In early December, users increasingly began to pay attention to the fact that in some configurations, Windows 11 significantly reduces the performance of system SSDs. For the most part, the problem concerns NVMe SSDs. Moreover, these same storage devices, when Windows 10 is installed on them, show stable and high results in tests. On average, NVMe SSD performance degradation in Windows 11 is between 11% and 19% compared to Windows 10.
