World's first camera phone with Sony IMX787 sensor and DSLR-like lens

Yesterday we wrote about the Nubia Z40 Pro smartphone: according to official teasers, it is built on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 single-chip platform and equipped with a 35mm “master lens”. And now new details about the camera of this smartphone have arrived.

The main camera modules of the device will use a brand new flagship image sensor jointly developed by Sony IMX787. Judging by the designation, it will be better than the Sony IMX766, which is currently used in many top-end smartphones. This sensor will be connected to the same "master lens" with a focal length of 35 mm. Its aperture will be F / 1.6, and the lens itself is presented as a DSLR-level solution. Also on the list of features of the Nubia Z40 Pro camera is an advanced auto focus system, an optical stabilization system and computational photography. In general, it is already clear that ZTE is preparing an outstanding camera phone, which, perhaps, can displace the Huawei P50 Pro from the first place in the DxOMark rating.
