The revenue of the American company Meta, formerly known as Facebook, for 2020 in Russia amounted to 39 billion rubles, and Google - 144 billion. This is stated in the text of the court ruling on the appointment of turnover fines for companies for not deleting prohibited information, Interfax reports.

The Moscow Magistrate's Court assigned Meta a minimum turnover fine of 5% of 2020 revenue for violating Part 5 of Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (repeated commission of an offense related to the owner of a resource on the Internet not deleting information, if the obligation to delete it is provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation). The same measures apply to Google. The court ruling notes that this article provides for an uncontested punishment in the form of fines from 5 to 10% of the total revenue for the calendar year.

The court received data on the annual revenues of companies from the Interregional Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for the largest taxpayers No. 7. According to Interfax, when imposing punishment, the judge took into account the nature of the offenses committed by Google and Meta, the specific circumstances of the case, the property and financial situation of the companies. The judge did not find any mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

The court decision states that the companies' arguments about the disproportionate fine are subject to rejection - the offenses "carry a wide public danger", so the judge decided to issue turnover fines.

On December 24, the World Court of the Tagansky District of Moscow fined Meta 1.99 billion rubles for massive repeated violations of Russian law and failure to remove prohibited information on the orders of Roskomnadzor. Google for similar offenses was fined more than 7.2 billion. According to Russian law, companies have 60 days to voluntarily pay fines, otherwise the case materials will be sent to bailiffs for enforcement.
