It became known what will be the new Moscow river trams

The RBC publication reports that passenger ships on electric traction from the company Emperium will begin testing on the Moscow River at the end of January. The mayor's office of the capital intends to spend 19.5 billion rubles on the development of the river transportation project.

The owner of the shipyard Emperium is a former banker Alexander Lebedev, he is also an investor in the project. "Mashpromleasing" ordered river trams for the subsidiary company "Vodohod" - "Passenger Port". In December last year, the Moscow Department of Transport said that the contract with the contractor was concluded for a 15-year period.

The company will assemble and service 21 electric vessels, it will build 23 berths, 6 charging stations and 2 ship bases. The water trams will run on the Pechatniki - Avtozavodsky Bridge (63 trips per day by May 2024) and Fili - Kievsky Station (50 trips) routes. The interval of movement of ships will be 30 minutes at the first stages of commissioning of ships, and over time, the break between flights will be reduced to 16 minutes.

Electric ships are designed for 50 passengers. The berths will be equipped with waiting areas with cafes, information boards, Wi-Fi and sockets for charging mobile devices.

Lebedev's website states that electric ships are Tesla's answer. He expects that the project will be "the revival of the entire industry of Russian passenger shipbuilding."

At the end of last year, Deputy Mayor of Moscow and head of Deptrans Maxim said that the city authorities would not purchase equipment, but would only allocate funds for the organization of transportation. According to him, river transport will operate all year round, but this will depend on demand.

Mashpromleasing will hand over 14 Ecobus vessels to Passenger Port, which are manufactured by Emperium from May 2022 to spring 2023.

Liksutov says that at the first stage, the new transport will carry 5-6 thousand passengers per day. He emphasizes that electric river trams are not created as competitors for sightseeing and pleasure boats.

Emperium was created in 2019. The company expects to create electric ships for the whole of Russia and plans to enter the world market. Emperium has 30 vessels worth 6 billion rubles.
