Gartner estimates PC shipments down 5% last quarter

Gartner analysts summed up the results of the last quarter of 2021 and the year as a whole in the market of finished PCs.

Gartner estimates that 88.4 million PCs were shipped globally in the fourth quarter of 2021. This is 5% less than in the fourth quarter of 2020. This is the first decline in annual terms after six quarters of continuous growth. In general, 339.8 million finished PCs were shipped during the year. This figure corresponds to a market growth of 9.9% compared to 2020.

Gartner experts call Lenovo the largest supplier of finished PCs, which shipped 84.017 million PCs in a year, increasing shipments by 10.4%, which led to a slight increase in its share - from 24.6% to 24.7%.

Second-placed HP was able to increase shipments by 8.8%, which is less than the growth of the market as a whole, so the share of HP decreased from 22.1% to 21.8% compared to 2020.

The third place is occupied by Dell. This manufacturer was able to increase supplies by 17.6%, resulting in an increase in market share from 16.4% to 17.6%.

Apple is in fourth place. This company increased deliveries by 18.1% over the year, which, by the way, is the best indicator in the top five. As a result, Apple's share increased from 7.1% to 7.6%.

Closes the top five Acer Group. It managed to increase deliveries by only 8.3%, so that the share of Acer Group decreased from 7.3% to 7.2%.
