Turkmenistan and Taliban commented on information on border conflict

The authorities of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have denied the border conflict attributed to them by the media.

The publications claimed that the Taliban forces (movement is prohibited in the Russian Federation) clashed with the Turkmen border guards, who came to their aid with heavy artillery.

Both parties denied this information. Abdul Kahar Balkhi, the head of the Taliban Foreign Ministry's press center, said on Twitter that the movement "has no problems" with neighboring Turkmenistan. He stressed that the Taliban are committed to maintaining positive relations with friendly countries.

The embassy of Turkmenistan in the Afghan capital spoke in the same vein. The statement noted that Turkmenistan aims to continue good-neighborly relations with the neighboring country.

It is noteworthy that information about the alleged tension on the Afghan-Turkmen border appeared against the background of negotiations between the head of the National Electricity Company of Afghanistan (DABS) Hafiz Mohammad Amin and a representative of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan Chary Jumaev.
