British Prime Minister Johnson called the crisis in Ukraine the biggest power build-up in Europe

The Prime Minister of Great Britain commented on the situation in Ukraine. He expressed hope that it could be resolved through diplomacy, according to the Times.

According to the British Minister, the crisis in Ukraine was the largest military buildup in Europe since the Cold War. He also believes that the current situation in the country overshadows what happened in Ukraine in 2014 (the return of Crimea to Russia).

"Principled and determined diplomacy can avert a crisis," Johnson said. The basis of a successful dialogue, according to the politician, is the de-escalation of the conflict.

The Prime Minister also said that the UK will strengthen the NATO multinational battalion under British command in Estonia and the Joint Expeditionary Force, a British-led formation that includes units from ten Scandinavian and northern European countries.

The possibility of using RAF Typhoon fighters and Royal Navy ships is being considered. Johnson pointed out that the increase in capacity is connected with the allegedly planned Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In recent months, statements have been made in the West and Ukraine in particular about Russia's allegedly impending "invasion" of Ukraine. In turn, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans for an attack.
