In Italy, a historical leaflet of the Red Brigades was sold at auction

The official "Communique No. 1" of the Italian underground radical leftist organization "Red Brigades", in which they take responsibility for the kidnapping of influential politician Aldo Moro, was sold by the Roman auction house for 33,000 euros with an initial price of 600 euros. The buyer of the leaflet preferred to remain anonymous.

"On Thursday, March 16, 1978, an armed group of the Red Brigades captured and imprisoned in the people's prison Aldo Moro, the president of the Christian Democrats. His armed guard, consisting of five agents of the notorious special forces, was completely destroyed." It is with these words that a leaflet found in one of the Roman underground passages begins 48 hours after the attack of the militants on the Moro motorcade. After 55 days, the body of a politician was found in a car on a street in the center of Rome, halfway between the headquarters of the Christian Democrats and the Communists. The kidnapping and then murder of former Prime Minister Aldo Moro is the most high-profile crime of the "Red Brigades", which terrorized Italy for many years under the slogans of class justice and the fight against imperialism.

The sale of a historical document at auction provoked a wave of criticism in the Italian society, which still perceives the events of those days quite acutely. Mario Calabresi, the son of a policeman who died at the hands of another left-wing extremist group, wrote on his social networks that such things "cannot be sold, bought and collected - they are covered in blood."

How the historical document got into the auction house is unknown. Perhaps he once ended up in the hands of a random person who decided to earn extra money now. Or maybe it was put up for auction by a participant in those events. Now the investigators of the anti-terrorism unit are investigating the unique lot and the circumstances of its sale. There are 41 copies of Communiqué No. 1 in the Italian archives, and it is not yet clear whether this is a new, previously unknown copy, or a document missing from the archive.

Previously, the papers of the Red Brigades were already on sale, for example, in 2012, 17 leaflets were sold for 17 thousand euros, including Communiqué No. 6, in which the Brigadiers sentenced Moro to death. Then the documents were acquired by the Milan Library Fund.
