OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) observers spotted people in Ukrainian military uniforms in the disengagement zone near the partially Kyiv-controlled Zolote settlement in Donbass. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR).
“In the village of Katerynivka (Kyiv-controlled – Ed.), within the disengagement area, the SMM observed a military jeep moving in a north-easterly direction with three unarmed people wearing Ukrainian military uniforms on board,” the OSCE report says.
Earlier, the People's Militia of the LPR stated that they did not rule out an offensive by the Ukrainian security forces after the arrival of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, in the Donbass in the coming days. It is also noted that over the past day, the People's Militia of the LPR recorded about 40 attempts to conduct aerial reconnaissance in the Donbass. According to the intelligence of the LPR, Kiev continues to build up the grouping of forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass.
The armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine began in 2014, when the inhabitants of Donbass did not recognize the new government after the coup. In 2015, the leaders of the Normandy Four agreed on measures to implement the Minsk agreements of September 19, 2014. Ukraine adopted a law on the special status of Donbass in 2014, but it has not yet entered into force.
