Lavrov spoke about expectations from negotiations with the United States on security guarantees

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, opening the meeting with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken, said he did not expect a breakthrough in negotiations on security guarantees, RIA Novosti reports.

He recalled Blinken's statement as part of a recent tour to European countries. Then the Secretary of State noted that the United States does not expect a breakthrough from the upcoming meeting.

“We also do not expect a breakthrough from this meeting. We are waiting for answers to our proposals. The proposals are extremely specific, and we expect the same specific answers in line with and in full compliance with the commitments that were adopted at the highest level within the OSCE on the issues of the indivisibility of security, so that no country strengthens its security at the expense of the security of any other country,” explained Lavrov.

According to him, the Russian side is "very interested to hear" how the Americans interpret "their obligations."

Earlier it became known that the meeting between Sergei Lavrov and Anthony Blinken began with a handshake.
