Thailand reports first omicron deaths

In Thailand, two people have died from the effects of the omicron strain. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom, it is elderly women.

The first case occurred in Songkhla province. An 86-year-old woman died there, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease and other chronic diseases. After she was diagnosed with coronavirus, she was hospitalized, but a few days later the woman died in the hospital. As noted in the Foreign Ministry, the infection occurred due to close contact with infected relatives.

The second death occurred in the province of Udon Thani. An 84-year-old woman had terminal lung cancer. She caught the coronavirus from her son. As in the first case, the doctors failed to save her.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first victim of the Omicron strain was vaccinated (Pfizer vaccine), the second was not.

According to the latest data, 2.33 million cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Thailand since the beginning of the pandemic, almost 22 thousand people have died from complications caused by it.
