The mayor of the Ukrainian city called crazy gas prices

The mayor of the city of Shostka in the Sumy region of Ukraine, Mykola Noga, was indignant at high gas prices. As he said on the air of the Nash TV channel, they are simply crazy.

"The heating season is extremely difficult, the price of gas is crazy. Tariffs have remained the same, but additional payments for transportation and heating have been introduced. And this worries people," Noga said.

Recall that Ukraine faced an energy crisis last fall. Due to the sharp rise in gas prices and fuel shortages, more than half of the country's thermal power plants stopped their work. According to experts, problems in the energy sector will be key in the new year, and they can provoke mass protests in the country.

At the end of 2021, Naftogaz admitted that the fields in Ukraine were depleted (in some cases they were already 80 percent depleted) and were in the final stage of operation.

According to the UGS operator Ukrtransgaz, in early January, natural gas reserves in underground storage facilities amounted to only 13.5 billion cubic meters, which is 42.6 percent less than a year earlier.
