Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman held meetings with colleagues from the UK, Germany, France and Italy, who confirmed their readiness to continue US-European coordination of actions in the situation around Ukraine. This was announced during a briefing by US State Department spokesman Ned Price.

All five countries represented their countries during the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council, which took place on January 12 at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels. This is the first meeting of the council in 2.5 years, initiated by the Russian side, and organized as a follow-up to negotiations on security guarantees between Russia and the United States, held January 9-10 in Geneva.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko said that the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council was absolutely necessary, it became a shake-up. According to him, in Moscow they already feel that Russia is being considered as an object for targeted strike weapons.
