Rahmon proposed to CSTO members to create a security belt

Russia and CIS (bbabo.net) - At today's online summit of the CSTO Council, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed concern over the tragic events in Kazakhstan. For his part, he proposed to pay special attention to what is happening in Afghanistan and noted that a number of security measures have not yet been adopted by the CSTO.

“We are particularly worried that a targeted interstate program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border has not yet been adopted. The situation on the Tajik-Afghan border is getting complicated every day, fighting is going on right along the border between the Taliban themselves (a group banned in the Russian Federation), ”the head of the republic said.

According to Rahmon, in the north-eastern provinces of Afghanistan, bordering the CSTO, there are more than 40 camps and training centers for terrorists, in which there are up to 6 thousand militants. And he proposed to create a "safety belt".

“The CSTO member states should take very seriously the fact that some of our citizens, observing how the positions of terrorists in Afghanistan are strengthening, with their support, can take the most extreme measures,” Rahmon said.
