According to the "official" Moldovan statistics, for the specified period, the cost of imported drugs, at prices declared at customs, amounted to USD 1.371.7 million, mybusiness.md reports.
The smuggled volume of drugs in only 7 countries amounted to 474.1 million dollars, at an average rate of about 8.3 billion lei, at customs (that is, excluding duties and other payments, as well as wholesale and retail trade margins within the country).
This corresponds to 35% of all official drug imports.
There are two categories of smuggling schemes.
1) at the customs office in the exporting country, the goods are accounted for at the same price. The goods arrived in Moldova at a much higher price. This:
- Germany - exported in the amount of $ 121.3 million. Goods for $ 152.8 million were accepted in Moldova. (Transport and other expenses in the declarations are indicated separately)
- Italy - exported in the amount of $ 31.2 million. He also came to Moldova for $ 211.5 million.
- France - exported in the amount of $ 13.9 million. In Moldova, it already cost 16.5 million.
- Hungary - exported $ 16 million. In Moldova, we received goods for $ 19.4 million.
2) at the customs office in the exporting country, the goods are accounted for at the same price. The goods arrived in Moldova at a much lower cost. This:
- Turkey - exported $ 107.6 million. Goods for 65.0 million dollars were accepted in Moldova.
- Russia - exported in the amount of $ 48.8 million. In Moldova - 18.9 million.
- Romania - exported in the amount of $ 123.0 million. In Moldova, the goods were estimated at 60.4 million.
I think this is enough to understand the scale of drug and drug smuggling.
Taking into account that pharmacies sell drugs at an average price of 60-65% more than the declared price at customs, the retail volume of "unrecorded" drugs is (only for the indicated countries) about 13 billion lei. And from this amount, of course, they do not pay the due taxes and fees, - the expert concludes.
