Russia (bbabo.net) - The countries of the OPEC oil cartel decided in February to continue to increase oil production by the planned 400 thousand barrels per day. This is stated in the communique of the alliance following the ministerial meeting.
"Reaffirm the plan to change production and the mechanism for monthly production ramp-up, approved at the 19th meeting of OPEC and non-OPEC ministers, as well as the decision to increase total production by 0.4 million barrels per day monthly in February 2022" , - reports RIA Novosti. It is also noted that the next ministerial meeting of the OPEC + countries is scheduled for February 2.
It became known yesterday that OPEC had elected a candidate from Kuwait, Haitam al-Ghais, as its new Secretary General for a three-year term. The new heads of OPEC will take up their duties on August 1. Al-Ghais has led Kuwait's delegation to OPEC for the past four years. His candidacy was the only one on the list of candidates. The new secretary general will replace the Nigerian Mohammed Barkindo, who has been the secretary general of OPEC since 2016.
