Trudeau laments Canada's economic lockdown

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the protests staged by truckers have a negative impact on the country's economy. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“These individuals are trying to block our economy, our democracy and the daily lives of our citizens. This must stop,” the politician said during his speech to members of the federal parliament.

He noted that Ottawa residents "do not deserve to be persecuted in their own neighborhoods."

Earlier, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said that the situation in the city was out of control due to the protests of truckers.

Before that, it was reported that Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and his family left the capital of the state in an unknown direction. They made such a decision in order to ensure the safety of the politician due to mass protests by truck drivers.

They are unhappy with the anti-COVID restrictions introduced on January 15 and are now in favor of their abolition. Trudeau not only did not change the prescription, but also called the protesters a "marginal minority."
