Moldova - Government wants to issue gas compensation in advance to cover debt to Gazprom

Moldova (bbabo.net), - The Commission for Emergency Situations will approve the allocation of an advance payment for gas compensation provided in the budget for January and February. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa noted that "if calculations show that it is necessary for March, then this month will be covered." The statement was made after Denis Ulanov, a deputy from the Shor party, asked where the money from the state budget would be directed, unimedia.info reports.

“We have prepared a number of decisions that the commission will take: firstly, this is related to the deferment of VAT payment for Moldovagaz, and secondly, this concerns the early payment of those compensations that are provided for in the budget for January-February and, possibly, March.

Today we will decide to pay in advance the amount provided for the compensation offered by the government, which should have gone to Moldovagaz anyway, but should have gone in February and March. We expect that today Moldovagaz will be able to pay the remaining amount,” said Gavrilitsa.

Note that Moldova is again on the verge of an energy crisis. This is due to the fact that "Moldovagaz" received a letter from the Russian concern "Gazprom" with a message about the possibility of stopping natural gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova in case of non-payment of full gas consumption by January 20.

In connection with the current situation, the government addressed the Parliament with a request to introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector of Moldova for a period of 60 days.
