Moldova (bbabo.net), - The project to increase the compensation for the heating medium will be approved by the parliament in the first reading on Friday. This was announced by Dan Perchun, chairman of the Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family. According to the MP, the amount of maximum compensation for the coolant has been increased from 450 to 815 lei. The money needed for this support provided to citizens will be taken from the state budget, reports noi.md

According to official figures, more than 190,000 people in mun. Chisinau and Balti, connected to the district heating system, will receive an increase in compensation for the heat carrier. Government officials say people connected to the district heating system are most often the most vulnerable, and if the natural gas tariff rises, compensation will be increased for residential consumers as well.

“The increase in the maximum compensation for heat energy will occur due to an increase in the share of the compensated tariff from 67% to 80%. If in the original version the first gigacalorie was compensated, now the maximum compensated amount will be increased to 1.5 gigacalories. The money will be allocated from the state budget. There are additional budget revenues, and we believe that during this difficult period they should be directed to support the population,” said Dan Perchun.

Parliament also on Friday will simplify the procedure for providing social assistance. At the initiative of the government, for the period January-March 2022, the obligation to conduct a social survey in relation to low-income citizens has been eliminated.

“For this winter, until March, it was decided that a social survey is not needed to access this mechanism. It remains to check the income. For one person, the threshold below which someone is entitled to compensation is 3,100 lei, for a family of two adults – 5,400 lei,” said Dan Perciun.

The amount of social assistance for the cold season is 700 lei per month.
