Saudi Arabia to Protect Cultural Objects in Conflict Zones

Saudi Arabia announced the allocation of $ 30 million to the Alif International Foundation, which works to preserve cultural heritage in conflict zones. The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Culture of the country, Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, at a conference of fund donors in Paris.

The Ministry of Culture expressed the hope that these funds will help protect cultural objects from neglect and destruction during wars.

“We are working to protect the heritage and culture of both our country and the whole world. We train specialists, create professional networks for their cooperation, and also offer joint initiatives for cooperation in the field of culture,” he told Arab News.

At the end of the conference, the KSA Minister of Culture held face-to-face talks with Louvre Director Lawrence de Kars, Alif Foundation Chairman Thomas Kaplan, and Omani Minister of Heritage and Tourism Salim Al-Mahrouki.
