Chinese threaten Keanu Reeves to boycott 'The Matrix' over support for Tibet

Chinese social media users have criticized Canadian actor Keanu Reeves for supporting a charity event in support of Tibet, writes Variety.

On March 3, the actor will perform with other stars at a concert organized by the US Tibet House, which advocates the independence of the region annexed to China in 1950 from official Beijing. Beijing has repeatedly stated that Tibet is an integral part of the PRC.

Chinese nationalists, dubbed "little pinks" on social media, are threatening to boycott Lana Wachowski's The Matrix Resurrection over Reeves' decision. The Matrix 4 opened in China on January 14 and earned a relatively small box office of $12.3 million.

Earlier it was reported that the fees of "Fast and the Furious 9" in China fell after the scandal with John Cena.
